# Building and running from source \[advanced]

When choosing to build the binary from source you will need to manually perform some of the setup done by the Aleph Node Runner scripts. In the following sections we will guide you through:

* obtaining the repository
* building a binary
* downloading the database snapshot and the chainspec
* running the binary with appropriate arguments.
